Awesome From Ear to Ear

Hi! My name is Jilly, and while I can't hear like other kids, I'm learning to turn this challenge into a superpower. With a special trick from my mom, I imagine my bravest and strongest moments to help me feel confident at school, whether it's asking the teacher to repeat a question or joining in on games at recess. Now, I know that even though my ears are different, I'm awesome from ear to ear just the way I am!

Guided by flickering lanterns and the glow of the full moon, Eloise meets an unusual group of guests.  Though hesitant at first, Eloise learns that Samhain  isn’t something to fear but rather a celebration of stories, laughter, and the cozy warmth of togetherness. With pumpkin-shaped teapots, cinnamon-scented air, and a touch of Irish magic, The Midnight Tea Party turns the spooky season into a whimsical celebration of overcoming fears, connecting with culture, and the beauty of tradition.

Leo dreams of walking the tightrope someday, and when the circus comes to town he is dying to see these nerve defying performers.  When he gets home though, he feels discouraged that his dream will never come true... until he learns about slacklining!  Readers will learn about slacklining along side Leo as he works to reach his dream.  *This story does include disability rep as Leo is an autistic boy.  While this is not explicit in the pages, readers who understand autism will have a chance to see themselves represented on the page, not as a thing to fix, but just as a person.

Is My Audiologist a Dinosaur? 

When Mia learns she needs to get her ears check by Dr. Rex, she starts to wonder: Is my audiologist a dinosaur?  She imagines stomps and roars, but when she meets Dr. Rex, he isn't anything like she imagined.  This fun story is great for children going to the audiologist for the first time, and helps introduce the otoscope and field hearing test.  This story is a stand alone, with other stories to follow including:  "Is my Doctor a Vampire?"  and "My Ophthalmologist is a Monster!"

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kirsten Jacobson, LCSW, is an  author, pediatric trauma therapist, and fierce advocate for children with disabilities. As a mother of two incredible kids, Kirsten brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her work. With over 15 years of experience helping children thrive, she specializes in supporting neurodivergent and differently-abled kids, championing their resilience and unique strengths.

Currently completing a PhD in Traumatology, Kirsten’s groundbreaking thesis explores the prevalence of PTSD in children with disabilities. Her ultimate goal? To revolutionize how care is provided to these incredible kids. She’s already making waves, traveling across the Southwest to speak at conferences and schools about her research and advocating for a future where every child feels valued and understood.
